The area

La Jolla's Village is a compact cluster of hotels, shops and restaurants on and around Prospect Street, set above the coastline and the cove. It feels polished and village-like rather than resort-sprawling, with the ocean as the constant backdrop. Further north, Torrey Pines has a quieter, open, golf-and-clifftop character of its own.

Getting around

La Valencia and the Grande Colonial both stand on Prospect Street in the Village, so a Village base puts the coast and the village streets on foot. The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a different setting, on Torrey Pines Golf Course at 11480 North Torrey Pines Road, separate from the Village centre. Treat Village La Jolla and Torrey Pines as two distinct bases within La Jolla rather than one walkable cluster.
