About this place
The NPS directions page places the monument at the southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula, and its press kit says it commemorates the landing of Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo at San Diego Bay on September 28, 1542. The park's own pages list the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, trails to the tidepools, and fun and educational activities in its Things to Do material.
